The Georgian version of the business skills primary education programs was prepared by “Junior Achievement Georgia” within the framework of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) Georgia Primary Education Project (G-PriEd), which aims to improve reading, math and business skills in primary grades. in Georgia. The Business Skills program is integrated with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) skills training.
In the 2015-2016 academic year, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and G-PriEd, “Junior Achievement Georgia” taught the basics of entrepreneurship, employment readiness and financial literacy to elementary school students in 39 pilot schools throughout Georgia. Representatives of local and international businesses were involved in the project at the level of grades V-VI. Within the framework of the Business Skills Program, students received a unique educational experience and gained a better understanding of the business world in which they are expected to enter after school.
The program develops such important skills as readiness for work, entrepreneurship and financial literacy among young people.
In elementary grades, business skills are taught by the class teacher or volunteer business representatives. They create a business environment in classrooms and conduct interactive lessons, which significantly increases motivation among students. Fun games and activities are carried out during the lessons. Teachers and volunteers introduce students to basic concepts of economics and finance and help them develop creative problem-solving skills.
Since January 2017, “Junior Achievement Georgia” provides an opportunity for all schools, including private schools, to participate in the business skills program in order to make the aforementioned skills and learning methodology available to more students.
