“ Fundamentals of entrepreneurship “
Method of teaching the program:
- This is a practical method of teaching entrepreneurship – “learning by doing”, which makes many complex socio-economic concepts or events easily understandable to the student;
- This method allows the student to see practically how to go from a business idea to the formation of a real business.
Brief description of the program:
- Students of the so-called simulation enterprise On the example of formation and management of the “Student Company”, they will learn about the main issues of entrepreneurial activity. Students elect a company’s board of directors from among their peers, in accordance with the program’s rules, raise capital, market and sell the product or service they have chosen and produced. At the end of the program, they prepare and present a report to their shareholders. Simplified models of “market”, “enterprise”, “tax system” are used for educational purposes.
Objectives of the program:
- study of the basic foundations of business and economics in action (in practice);
- Development of practical entrepreneurial skills for students;
- motivation to receive education and stimulation of the development of general professional skills;
- Preparation for choosing a future specialty, taking into account inherent skills and aspirations and the current situation in the labor market;
- creation of conditions for the development of personal, business and leadership qualities;
- Involvement of business and community representatives in the educational process.
Competencies developed by the program:
- socio-psychological preparation for professional activity;
- teamwork and leadership skills;
- communication and presentation skills;
- negotiation and decision-making skills;
- self-confidence and “can-do” attitude;
- creative thinking and problem solving skills;
- the skills of setting a goal and achieving it;

Main issues of the program:
- business idea development;
- establishment of the enterprise and distribution of duties in the company;
- consumer market research, determination of a competitive product or service;
- fundraising;
- procurement, production, marketing and sales planning;
- management of production finances;
- Production of business documentation.
Target age of the program:
- 15-20 years (10th, 11th, 12th grades).
Number of students:
- The program can be implemented in small teams of 2 to 35 students. Usually, if more than 15 students are involved in the program, it is better to form several companies.
Duration of the program:
- 1 academic year.
Implementation of the program:
- The implementation of the program is managed by “Junior Achievement Georgia” in those schools that choose “Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship” as an additional subject;
- “Companies” must register at the “Junior Achievement Georgia” office to be assigned an organization code and a registration certificate;
- The program will be taught at the school by a teacher or volunteer trained by “Junior Achievement Georgia”, who will be provided with a free electronic manual and methodical materials;
- It is possible to include an invited business consultant in the implementation of the company’s program, whose visits are planned by the teacher.
Additional features of the program:
- Students will participate in exhibitions and sales and competitions. 10 best companies will be selected across Georgia, among which a competition will be held to identify the “Company of the Year”. Prizes and a certificate recognized in 123 countries will be awarded to the members of the winning teams;
- The winning team of “Company of the Year” of Georgia will be presented on behalf of the country at the “European Student Company” competition, which will be held in July in Switzerland;
- Students will have the opportunity to join the Entrepreneurial Skills Pass (ESP) certificate program with international qualifications, information about which can be found on the website: http://www.entrepreneurialskillspass.eu .
